Upcoming Readings

What do you think of the drawing? I was using these felt tips that are more like the dabbers they give you at the bingo.
I thought I'd flag up a few dates that are coming up! I'm doing a bunch of readings at some literature festivals, all to do with books I've got coming out in the next little while. I'm also teaching a few workshops along the way. I love doing these things - and it'd be great to see some of the readers of this blog at these do's!
Saturday 10th October - the Ilkley Festival.
I'm running a fiction writing workshop on 'Secrets and Subtexts' from 2-4pm at the Manor House Museum. And at 5.50pm I'm giving a reading at the Ilkley Playhouse from my Brenda and Effie books, and talking about vampires and suchlike with Kevin Jackson.
Sunday 11th October - NovelCon at the Lass O'Gowrie pub in Manchester.
This is a one day event organised by Gareth Kavanagh: panel discussions and readings from Doctor Who novelists down the ages. Pies and pints and transdimensional debate. This should be a hoot.
Thursday 15th October - Sheffield 'Off the Shelf' festival
I'm reading at 2pm at the Sheffield college.
Saturday 24th Octover - Lancaster LitFest
I'm reading at a special Brenda and Effie do at 9.30pm at the Storey Auditorium. They're encouraging people to dress up Hallowe'enish for this one, though I don't think it's mandatory! I'll be reading some Brenda - most probably from the new book, 'Hell's Belles!'
I'm a bit heartbroken this year because I can't be at the Whitby Bookshop on Hallowe'en. The past few years they've thrown a party for me and the new Brenda book right in the middle of Goth Weekend and it's always been wonderful. A whole shopful of dressed-up Brenda fans, coming to listen and to buy stuff and get it signed! This year we couldn't do it because of various commitments. Hope we can reschedule for Beltane and the mass market paperback! (My editions seem to coincide with magical festivals...!)
Brenda and Effie Mystery no.4: 'Hell's Belles!' comes out on November 12th - the very day I turn forty. And 'Twelve Stories' is published by Salt books on the 2nd of November.
