Iris Wildthyme

What is there left to say about Iris Wildthyme –- transtemporal adventuress extraordinaire, metafictional explorer of texts and subtexts, double-decker-dwelling interstellar bag-lady, amnesia-prone political and sexual revolutionary, writer of wrongs, wronger of rights (especially copyrights), all-round champion of freedom, occasional nightclub singer and frequent bar-room floozy?

Well, there's always something.

Iris first appeared, driving her red Routemaster bus (the number 22 to Putney Common) and travelling with her young, gay and black companion, Tom, in a series of books for the BBC Doctor Who range.

She then popped up again in a collection of short stories from Big Finish, in which she again travelled with Tom

and a series of audio adventures in which she first travelled alone, and then with Tom and Panda, and then just with Panda.

Nowadays Iris has left Tom on Earth and wanders the Universe with Panda, in a new series of adventures from Obverse Books.
