To the Devil - A Diva Cover
Allison and Busby have just reprinted my novel 'To the Devil - a Diva!', complete with excellent new cover.

Menswear, the prime-time soap opera that has taken Britain by storm, is about to get a new cast member: Karla Sorenson, the once-great star of low-budget horror films (Carnival of Flesh, among others). Lance Randall, the show's leading male star, is seriously concerned about Karla's arrival. He's not just worried that Karla might steal the show; he's also afraid that . . . well, she might steal his soul, too. A comedy about television, satanism, and lesbian vampires, the novel is a superbly written mix of crime fiction and campy horror (imagine Tim Dorsey or Bill Fitzhugh, only substantially more perverse). Fans of the author's previous novels (including Mad Dogs and Englishmen, 2002) will be pleased to note that Magrs is once again pushing the envelope, combining an outrageously over-the-top premise with a side dish of graphic sexuality. That combo will doubtless offend some, but it's all in good fun, and good fun it is. Magrs is a true original, and this one can only bolster his reputation as a cult favorite.' - David Pitt, American Library Association

666 Charing Cross Road Cover

The cover to 666 Charing Cross Road Cover

The blurb's been released for my latest novel, 666 Charing Cross Road...

In a Manhattan gallery, a strange, undead woman who’s been lost for centuries, is found in a basement and becomes the centrepiece of Shelley’s new museum show. Nicknamed Bessie, the Scottish Bride, she is an overnight celebrity as Christmas approaches. From the dusty vaults beneath the famed bookshops in Charing Cross Road, Shelley’s bibliophile aunt Liza receives crumbling volumes by post, while her friend Jack prefers brand-new books and his brand-new lover. When a small leather-bound book of spells arrives, Liza finds it repellent. But its arcane magic brings Bessie to life, and enthrals Shelley’s posh boyfriend Daniel – literally. It contains the quintessence of evil in the form of a dark bloodstain marking several pages: vampire blood. As Daniel’s power grows, everyone’s lives are infected. Soon the vicious vampire infestation rife in NYC threatens to spread to London – and only the Scottish Bride and her new friends can stop it…

Also, out right now, is a new collection of my short stories which, in a bit of a departure, comes in a lovely little tete-beche book with my good friend George Mann! Only available directly from the publishers or from George and I at conventions and readings...

She’s also trying to prepare for a packed festive break at her B&B, but her best friend Effie is in distracted mood: she just hasn’t been the same since her suave gentleman friend Alucard reappeared.

As she is drawn into the strange and fantastic works of Edwardian lady novelist Beatrice Mapp, she makes some very surprising discoveries. Discoveries that will soon impact upon the lives of all the ladies of Whitby. On March 4th Simon and Schuster publish my new Young Adult novel, Diary of a Dr Who Addict. Here's the blurb:

"It's the 1980's and David has just started secondary school. He's becoming a teenager, but still hanging onto the rituals of childhood, particularly his addiction to Doctor Who, sharing the books with his best friend and neighbour, Robert, and watching the TV show. But time moves relentlessly on, and Robert starts rejecting the Doctor in favour of girls, free weights and new music. Against a backdrop of Bowie, Breville toasters and trips to Blackpool, David acknowledges his own abilities and finds his place in the world."
